Cain, the Canine Man.
Entrepreneur and showman J.T. Bailum had a dream, a dream to bring back his favorite spectacle of the circus that he enjoyed as a boy. A dream to resurrect the sideshow, the freakshow. A dream to make that freakshow bigger, stranger, and more exotic than any seen before.

Bailum had all manner of freaks collected from around the world: dog-faced boys, siamese twins, pinheds, bearded ladies and the rest. He also stocked his show with creatures believed to be only legend: vampires.

Of course few of these exhibits were interested in being part of Bailum's freakshow, but that didn't stop him. The exhibits were kept in cages or chained up against their will.

It appeared as though Bailum's dream was going to come true. It became, instead, a nightmare.

Under the leadership of Cain, the canine man, the freaks waited until Bailum brought several potential investors to his assemblage to make their move.

The vampires attacked, capturing the group. Cain murdered one of Bailum's roustabouts. Then, Cain explained they were going to let Bailum and the others go, and hunt them through the house. Another one of the roustabouts, Maureen, took it upon herself to lead the people to safety.

Maureen led everyone past the ravenous Geek, the revenge-hungry siamese twins, a pack of creepy clowns, the venomous Snake Woman and others before revealing that, like so many other things in the circus, the hunt had simply been a show. She revealed that she herself had been a conjoined twin before her sister had been beaten to death and Maureen surgically detached to save her life.

Maureen had been working with Cain and Bailum's other freaks to exact revenge. As the freaks closed in on Bailum, Maureen let the other victims go, warning them not to treat her kind so cruelly again or else to expect the same sort of treatment Bailum was getting.
