Your Reader Postcards Host: Amalgamated Humor Mail Room Guy, Gordon "Gordy" Schwartz.

This picture was taken on Gordy's first day on the job in June, 1968. In the years since, his vim and vigor have been replaced by bitterness and bile.

Hey, it's Killarney, ireland. Bing Crosby's favorite place to Christmas.

Notice this card is addressed "Dear Cap'n" and signed "Love Dad." That, of course, can only mean one thing: this card is from none other than Cap'n Wacky's own father, Cap'n Dad.

It's a good thing Cap'n Dad dropped us this line, as no one has seen or heard from him for a few years. Cap'n Dad will do that once in a while, though. That's just his way. He always pops back up eventually, though - oftentimes in Ireland, where there's lots of booze.

Cap'n Dad (foreground) welcomed by the boys in the pub.

I only met Cap'n Dad once, years ago. Conincedentally, he was talking about Ireland at the time. He was telling me that Guiness actually gets thicker the closer it gets to home.

"In America, the Guiness is thick like syrup," he told me. "In London, 'tis more like molasses. In Dublin, though, you actually have to chew it. And I've chewed many a pint, me boy."

Answers a lot of questions about Cap'n Wacky, doesn't it?
